What is it like to study business and commerce at Deakin?
Never did I imagine that an assignment at university would secure me work in my business, yet it did! Overall, the Bachelor of Business at Deakin taught me how to think more strategically in my and my clients' businesses. The experience really helped me grow both professionally and personally.
A lot of the learnings I obtained at Deakin helped me instantly as I moved out of university and into my graduate role. The knowledge I gained related directly to my new role and I still refer to the notes that I have taken in university from time to time as a basis for some of my analysis.
The Master of Business is a postgraduate course ideally suited for those who wish to target their career beyond the generic. With four specialisations developed to target specific segments of the job market, graduates can enter their chosen field without having been locked into a discipline by a specialised postgraduate degree.
When I came to interviews for professional services roles, I was really proud to go on and talk about my international study tour experiences in Vietnam and Japan and how I’d faced client problems. It felt like I had something really tangible to present at my interviews.
The skills I learnt at Deakin were very hands-on. You can build your networking skills, build your presentation skills, get interview skills, build your LinkedIn.
